Why are kids so expensive?

I took my kids to the dentist today for their 6 month check up. Now I am wondering if I should have just skipped it. Oh, they have good teeth; spacing is good, growth is good, coloring is good. All except for Kari ... unfortunately she has had pneumonia twice; once when she was 2-years old and again a year later. Due to the antibiotics, her back teeth were weakened as they were developing.

She has 3 holes in her teeth that need to be filled to prevent them from becoming cavities (I thought cavities were holes).
Well, there goes the money we got for Christmas. I was hoping to use that to pay down debt or buy a new outfit, but instead I get to point to my 8-year olds teeth and say, thanks for the present.

I knew having kids would be work, that I would be spending more time at the store and in the kitchen, that my house would never be spotless again, and that my bank account would run low. I don't remember agreeing to get fillings for my daughter for MY OWN Christmas present.

Relay for Life

This post is more a plea for help rather than an update on the family. I talked Dave into letting me sign the family up for the Wilsonville Oregon relay for life. Are you all asking why?...

Our nephew, Eli, is the MC for the relay this year. He was diagnosed with Leukemia September 11, 2007 at 3-years-old. It has not been an easy ride and Eli has had added problems, however, he is a strong kid and is getting better despite the bumps along the way. If you want to read more about hs journey go to his webpage http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/eliwalker.

Okay, so here is the plea. We decided that as a family we would raise at least $150 for our team the Eli*mpians. If you could help us to achieve our goal, we would greatly appreciate it.

I think I am supposed to be doing something else

Well, it is 9:45 on a Saturday night, and I should be doing something else. If Dave knew I was on our blog, he would probably unplug the Internet. But it has been almost a month since my last blog and I am feeling guilty that the few of you who want to see what we are up to, get no information. In fact, Dave just asked what I am doing, I better make this quick..

I am supposed to be preparing a talk for tomorrow. I recently got called as the Relief Society 1st Counselor and the new presidency is speaking. Our topic is goals and I am feeling a bit fake when I don't like goals - I always feel like I fail. Anyway, I guess if I had posted this a week ago I could have asked for ideas, but as I only have till tomorrow I will have no time. The best news is - I work best under pressure - at least I used to, we will find out if it is still true. Then again, I don't ever remember delivering a great talk.

Oh, if you are looking for a week to miss sacrament meeting, this is it.

A Child's Creativity

As Karson makes more and more friends at school, her creativity grows. I give full credit to her friends who have older siblings. They teach the younger sibling - by example - and that child shows Karson how to help her creativity grow. She writes some great stories and makes interesting things out of paper and beads. Most recently she made this outfit - all by herself!

Let me say, these girls have been obsessed with Wall-e even before it arrived in theatres.

Peek-a-boo

Tonight Dave and I were sitting watching TV and Payton dragged herself to her coat and started this. I can't believe how big and smart she is getting! I didn't dare get up and have her stop so i grabed my cell phone and the picture isn't the most clear but it is cute anyway. Turn down your volume though cause i can't seem to get the sound to work and all you will hear is a bird chirp.
